Wondering

Well....lately I've been wondering about questions that have nothing to do with my sewing machine. Namely, I have been wondering why my computer was acting funny - if I should replace it. Once it stopped working completely, I wondered if I should buy another PC or a Mac. Now that I have solved that problem, I can finally concentrate on this one again.

In terms of my previous knowledge in sewing, I mentioned that I had taken a home ec. class in junior high school. My grandmother was also a very accomplished sewer. Unfortunately, she passed away several years ago. She did teach me a few things over the years, but I haven't used that knowledge in such a long time.

So, what do I wonder about sewing? I think my main question is if my old sewing machine is functional and if it can do the things that I want to be able to do with it - both short term and long term. In order to get more information about that, I am trying to track down the owner's manual. I ordered a copy several years ago thinking that I would actually start using it. I'm not sure where that ended up. So, I will either find that in the house tomorrow or order a new copy ASAP. I am also trying to find someone who could show me the basics of sewing on this machine. Jo-Ann Fabrics offers a beginning sewing course, so I am going to look into that. I have put several promising books on hold at my local library. I haven't done much searching online due to my computer problems. I think that will be another excellent source of information. My aunt, Linda, is also a sewer. So, I am hoping to bribe her with food and wine.
